Panel Abstract:
The left has historically focused on class struggles against capitalism, in which gender issues often take a supportive, but separate role. The assumption of this panel is that the struggle for liberation must focus explictly on the struggle against capitalist patriarchy. Gender and class are historically and practically interwoven. Capitalism emerged historically through the subordination of women. Accumulaton is critically dependent on womens' role in social reproduction. This panel explores some of the key literature, and theoretical isssues within feminist-Marxism, and their politcal implications.
