2013
Abstract:
How can we mobilize for economic/ecological transformation if, even in championing sustainability, Indigenous paradigms that promote environmental, economic, and social justice for All Our Relations are still being threatened? We will present Indigenous models that promote critical consciousness; issues and possibilities with communicating to the general American population why our struggles to maintain our own life-ways and systems of knowledge are important for all nations (human, plant, animal) who depend on Mother Earth; and why Indigenous wisdom, intellectualism, spirituality and experience (all vital components of our thought process) are important for understanding how to Indigenize strategies and restore the sacred in sustainability.
