Lessons From the Third-Party Campaign Taill: What’s It Like To Be A Green, WFP, or Vermont Progressive Party Candidate

Panel Abstract:

As Kermit The Frog says, “it’s not easy being Green.” Nor is it easy to run for statewide office on the Green, Working Families Party, Vermont Progressive, or other third-party ticket. It takes fund-raising, navigation of unfriendly election laws, grassroots organization, and a constant fight to keep major party candidates from dominating media coverage and debates. Mad as hell and not going to take it any more? Thinking of running for office yourself? Before you do, come hear this panel of progressive third-party candidates tell their story of what it’s like to be a contender for public office, on the big stage of statewide politics. Bring your questions and suggestions about how we can make third-party building more effective and progressive electoral campaigns more numerous and visible.
