Sisterhood Across the Globe: The Anti-Imperialist Women’s Movement
Submitted by hanalei on Mon, 2011-01-03 02:32
Panel Abstract:
This panel will explain the significance and need for the formation of the International Women's Alliance. Panelists will discuss the role of women in current movements for national liberation and self-determination in local and international arenas, as well as the current struggles faced by women as imposed by the economic crisis. Despite being the most affected by the economic crisis, toiling women of the world have long been in the forefront of people's resistance against capitalism and imperialism from the level of grassroots organizing expanding to global networks. As the global economic, political, social, and environmental crises deepen, there is an urgency for women across communities to unite, heighten our militancy and join the wave of the people's struggle to defend our hard won rights and advance our liberation and destroy imperialism! The panel will also promote concrete ways for solidarity-building within the local NYC Area as International Women's Day approaches.
