Is Socialism Possible? Part 2
Submitted by Anne Jaclard on Wed, 02/02/2011 - 12:10am
Panel Abstract:
This is the second half of a double panel, with three more speakers, to be followed by discussion of both panels. PLEASE schedule them back to back. This panel will also address the question of the “potential for transformative struggles” highlighted in this year’s conference theme. Both the prospects for, and the nature of, social transformation depend on whether socialism––a free, just, emancipatory society—is even possible. The speakers for Part 2 are well-known American theorists with vastly different perspectives: Michael Albert of Parecon fame, Cindy Milstein, a leading anarchist theorist, and Andrew Kliman, a Marxist scholar and analyst of contemporary capitalism.
