SAM GINDIN holds the Packer Chair for Social Justice in the Politics department at York University, Toronto, Canada. Gindin was research officer, and later chief economist and assistant to the President of the Canadian Auto Workers. He is author of The Canadian Autoworkers: Birth and Transformation of a Union, and, with Leo Panitch, Global Capitalism and American Empire, Merlin 2004.

ROBERT BRENNER is Professor of History and Director of the Center for Social Theory and Comparative Analysis at UCLA. He is author of The Economics of Global Turbulence, (Verso: 2006), and, most recently, Rebel Rank and File: Labor Militancy and Revolt from Below in the Long 1970s, (Verso: forthcoming 2008).
