This panel aims at offering a critical analysis of the neoliberalization process in Turkey with a view to the reconfiguration of the public-private distinction. The papers contained within the scope of the panel address different facets of the neoliberalization process in the Turkish context. The first paper, titled ѓ??Drawing the Boundaries of the Political: Shifts and Relocations in the Public Sphereѓ?? delineates the gradual de-publicization process that had taken start in the post-1980 period, and reached its zenith in the 2000s. The paper gives an account of the policies implemented in three inter-related spheres: gender policies, labor policies and health and social security-related policies. The second paper, titled ѓ??Reclaiming the Public: Feminist Politics in Neoliberal Times,ѓ?? interrogates both the intermingling of womenѓ??s movement in Turkey with neoliberal politics, and the possibilities that the rise of feminist politics might form a space for dissent against the de-publicization process. The third paper, titled ѓ??Neoliberalization of the Public Sphere in Turkey: Organized Labour "Out," Corporate Culture "In",ѓ?? analyzes the possibilities that contemporary labor movement in Turkey might present a structural breach to neoliberal hegemony.

The papers converge on analyzing the interconnected facets of the neoliberalization process in the Turkish context with a view to the possible grounds to challenge the neoliberal structure.

The USSF will convene in multiple spots in 2015. Philadelphia and Jackson are confirmed, and locations along the Mexico-US border and the West Coast are being explored. The USSF seeks to facilitate systemic analysis, vision the world we need, develop a political program and action agendas, and build political cohesion, alignment and independence for collective power from below to win it and hold it. We ask ourselves:

• How do we do revolutionary work within reform struggles without it becoming reformism?
• How do we relate to the electoral and policy processes of the state?
• What will it take to go from defensive to offensive within our movement work?

2014 will be a year of convening People’s Movement Assemblies (PMAs) as outreach and educational tools as part of the process. PMAs are designed to: 1) Collectively develop a political analysis of the current moment and the systemic root causes of our problems.
2) Come up with visions of the world we are creating and programmatic demands to resolve our problems (short, medium, and long-term demands).
3) Put forward and coordinate related collective actions, campaigns, and strategic movement agendas. PMAs are foundational to accomplishing the US Social Forum strategic goal of moving toward political alignment and movement cohesion to transform society and protect the earth.
