Join rank-and-file labor activists from CUNY, UMass Boston, Columbia, and Barnard, for an open discussion on the way forward for rank-and-file academic organizing. This panel will emphasize dialogue between panelists and attendees. Please come and share your experiences!


Sonam Singh is an Adjunct Lecturer at Barnard College and the bargaining unit chair of Barnard Contingent Faculty-UAW Local 2110.

Camila Vergara Gonzalez is a PhD candidate in Political Theory at Columbia University working on plebeian politics and anti-oligarchic constitutional thought.

Sofya Aptekar is a member of the Caucus for a Democratic Union at UMass Boston, where she teaches sociology and transdisciplinary ethnic studies.

Andy Battle is a doctoral student in US history at the CUNY Graduate Center. His work focuses on deindustrialization in New York City.

(Facilitator) Jarrod Shanahan is a doctoral candidate in Environmental Psychology at the CUNY Graduate Center studying the social history of the New York City jail system. He is an organizer with CUNY Struggle.
