Julio Gomez, Esq. has practiced civil rights and commercial litigation in diverse matters including discrimination, education, police excessive force, unfair trade practices, contract disputes, fraud, medical malpractice, wrongful death and personal injury.
Specific matters have included representation of indigent and indigenous Ecuadorians against Chevron Corporation regarding claims of litigation fraud arising from prosecution of an environmental damages action following 20 years of oil drilling in the Amazon; I was co-counsel on a successful appeal to the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in this case, see Chevron Corp. v. Naranjo, 667 F.3d 232 (2d Cir. 2012), and I tried the merits case for six-weeks in federal court. See Chevron v. Donziger, 974 F.Supp.2d (S.D.N.Y. 2014).
