Biography:
Negesti Cantave is a queer lifelong resident of Bedford-Stuyvasnt, Brooklyn. As a first generation Afro-Caribbean, she stands in a line of Afro-Caribbean women who have devoted their lives to surviving colonialism. Negesti is a revolutionary thinker, filmmaker, and community organizer whose liberation theory is rooted firmly in the undeniable logic of Black Power. Negesti has spent much time organizing around the issues of the environment, access to affordable housing, and ending the state-sanctioned murders of black people, in low income black and brown communities.
