Party of the European Left
Waltraud Fritz is one of the founding members of the EL in 2004, having represented the Communist Party of Austria in the process of building a European Left party in the years before. After having read History and German literature at the Austrian universities of Salzburg and Vienna, she was a high school teacher and political activist. Later she got engaged in international, especially European politics, never in a paid position but as a volunteer. She has been elected to the board of the CPA and to their executive committee for the last 20 years. She has become a member of the Executive board of the EL in 2004 and since 2009 she is a member of the EL Political secretariat as well.
